Mental Health Intake Specialist - RN

Job Summary and Qualifications

The CAPs Specialist provides crisis intervention and assessment to assist in determining the appropriate level of psychiatric care needed. Specific duties include:

• Provides crisis intervention via phone and face-to-face assessment.
• Conducts assessments to determine most appropriate level of psychiatric care.
• Communicates with physicians, referral sources, and other hospital staff to obtain care for patients.
• Refers people to community mental health services as indicated following assessment.
• Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars/professional development as requested by manager.
• Adheres to the facilities Standards of Performance and ICARE values.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree.
• No Travel Required.
• 3 years experience Required.
