About the role

This position will provide Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports (CTSS), which consists of therapeutic and rehabilitative levels of intervention activities designed to promote skill development of both the child and the family of American Indians who reside on or near the White Earth Reservation. CTSS practitioners teach and practice skills which help the child, adolescent, or young adult to cope with mental health symptoms. CTSS is a rehabilitative service which can be used to deliver training that facilitates psychosocial skill development. Skills training facilitates the acquisition and retention of behavioral, functional, or psychosocial skills that are medically necessary to rehabilitate the child to an age-appropriate developmental trajectory that has been disrupted by a diagnosed mental health disorder. Promotes family preservation and unification, and family’s integration with the community.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all forms of documentation to ensure records meet provider and third-party billing requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records on all assigned clients; including treatment plans, case notes, supervision, monthly progress reports, file reviews, and discharge summaries for the purpose of effective client interventions, accountability, and administration of the program.
  • Write various reports: including, but not limited to, progress, discharge and court reports, and program monthly and quarterly reports.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the demographics, culture, customs, and geography of the White Earth Reservation.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for promoting behavioral change regarding individual and community health.
  • Skilled in monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Ability to apply rules and combine information to reach an appropriate conclusion to people and programs.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance for travel between sites and other business-related destinations.

Qualifications

Has completed at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields and:

  • At least 2,000 hours of experience providing services to children with:
    • A mental illness or substance use disorder; or
    • A traumatic brain injury or a developmental disability, and completes training on mental illness, recovery from mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects; or
  • Is working in a day treatment program; or
  • Has completed a practicum or internship that required direct interaction with child clients and was focused on behavioral sciences; or
  • Is in the process of completing a practicum or internship as part of a formal undergraduate or graduate training program in social work, psychology, or counseling.

A mental health practitioner is qualified through work experience alone if the person:

  • Has at least 4,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to children with:
    • Mental illness, substance use disorder, or emotional disturbance; or
    • Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, recovery from mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects.
  • Has 2,000 hours of experience providing services to children with:
    • Mental illness, substance use disorder, or emotional disturbance; or
    • Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, recovery from mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects, and
    • Receives treatment supervision of at least once per week until meeting the requirement of 4,000 hours.

Has a master’s or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields.

Pay

$35.83 per hour or based on qualifications.
