About the role
The Mental Health Counselor is a full-time, on-site position located in Syracuse, NY.
Responsibilities
- Conducting clinical assessments
- Developing treatment plans
- Delivering counseling interventions to address mental health concerns, relationship issues, academic stress, and adjustment challenges
- Maintaining accurate and confidential case records
- Collaborating with faculty and staff
- Participating in campus outreach and wellness programming
- Contributing to crisis intervention and emergency response efforts
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Mental Health and Psychology, including assessment and evidence-based counseling practices
- Proficiency in Treatment Planning and Case Management to provide coordinated, goal-oriented student support
- Experience in Relationship Counseling and interpersonal skills development with diverse student populations
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field; appropriate state licensure or eligibility is strongly preferred
- Strong communication, active listening, and crisis intervention skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a college setting
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive counseling practices
- Experience in a higher education or youth-focused environment is beneficial
