Mental Health Clinician - Youth Day Program

Major Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments (including suicide risk) and develop treatment plans and IEP related services.
  • Execute treatment plans and IEPs by providing individual student check-ins and groups (including psycho-educational groups), using evidenced-based practices.
  • Provide crisis management to students in distress, including physical management using CPI.
  • Maintain clinical records relevant to treatment, such as current release forms, psychological assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Work cooperatively with special education and residential staff to address the needs of the students within the academic and residential environments.
  • Support milieu services by providing crisis management and problem-solving; supporting the student in the environment in which they are served (home and community).
  • Collaborate with other specialist providers to develop integrated interventions across modalities.
  • Provide consultation and training to staff regarding students’ needs and mental health-related topics.
  • Document clinical notes, complete progress reports, IEP information, and re-evaluations.
  • Implement direct treatment in both individual and group treatment sessions within the milieu.
  • Participate in any meetings pertaining to assigned individuals or program planning, as directed.
  • Engage in de-escalation of individuals.
  • Attend training as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Physical and mental capacity to work in stressful situations and de-escalate individuals who have limited cognition and complex needs.
  • Must be able to organize, plan, and prioritize activities with specific attention to higher-level strategies while ensuring that details are also effectively addressed.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is an essential function of the job.
  • Must be able to implement crisis intervention techniques as necessary, including working with Mobile Crisis Team.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must meet Massachusetts Background Record Check requirements.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field.
  • Licensed as LCSW, LMHC; minimum 3 years of experience with children/adolescents who have mental health diagnoses; minimum 3 years of experience with children/adolescents who have developmental disabilities.
  • Experience in facilitating individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC), Department of Developmental Services (DDS), and Department of Children and Families is a plus.
  • Must be able to implement crisis intervention techniques as necessary, including working with Mobile Crisis Team.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must meet Massachusetts Background Record Check requirements.
