Mental Health Clinician III

Full-time, non-exempt, union position with a 90-day probation period. Shift differential of $1.75 per hour for hours worked between 6pm-6am.

The nation’s largest and most experienced provider of LGBT medical and mental health services. All services are free or low cost. The Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center with providers specializing in primary care for LGBTQ people and a research team advancing community care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual, couple, and group counseling services, documenting progress in client records immediately following sessions.
• Utilize a short-term treatment model; supervisor approval required to extend sessions beyond protocol.
• Provide two hours of group supervision and individual supervision to two unlicensed staff clinicians and/or interns weekly, as needed.
• Serve on-duty for designated hours to handle walk-ins (crisis or non-crisis) and general information/crisis telephone calls.
• Complete intakes and prepare required documentation for walk-in clients when appropriate.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary Clinical Case Conferences, presenting assigned cases for review.
• Make and follow up on referrals to internal and external services (e.g., psychiatric evaluation) to ensure continuity of care.
• Lead or participate in the Clinic’s Quality Improvement process.
• Adhere to Utilization Management protocols to ensure timely and appropriate client service.
• Meet performance metrics, including weekly/monthly visit targets.
• Complete all documentation thoroughly and submit client records daily; notify supervisor and administrative staff of schedule changes.
• Attend clinical supervision, consultation groups, and mandatory in-service training sessions.
• Assist in coordinating the work of paraprofessional volunteers and Mental Health Clinicians I and II.
• Participate in program planning, evaluation, dissemination activities, and training with supervisor or MHS Management Team.
• Provide clinical supervision to unlicensed staff clinicians and/or interns after completing 12 hours of CEUs in Clinical Supervision.
• Attend staff meetings, planning meetings, and other required meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a behavioral science discipline.
• Active license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
• Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with relevant issues.
• Passion for the Center’s mission to improve the lives of LGBTQ people.
• Preferred post-graduate counseling experience in settings such as residential care, social services, child welfare, general counseling, chemical dependency treatment, juvenile justice, or youth services.
• Ability to work as a team member dedicated to serving LGBTQ communities.
• Proven ability to work under direct supervision.
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Non-judgmental, respectful approach to working with LGBTQ individuals and those experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and other software systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment with diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration statuses, and physical abilities.
