Mental Health Assistant - PERS

Salary: $19.37 - $22.27 per hour based on experience.

Regular full-time employees are eligible for a $2,000 signing incentive, less applicable taxes. Terms and conditions will be provided at the time of offer.

Under the supervision of the PERS Program Coordinator, you will monitor the health, safety, and security of multiple consumers simultaneously via the electronic Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) monitors. You will respond to their needs verbally and in person or arrange for an appropriate response. PERS operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a midnight position, 6 pm–6 am.

Responsibilities

• Monitor multiple consumers via electronic PERS monitors
• Respond to consumer needs verbally, in person, or by arranging appropriate assistance
• Work independently during the midnight shift (6 pm–6 am)
• Discern multiple conversations and noises amid external distractions
• Perform computer operations, documentation, and office tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Valid MI driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work the midnight shift (6 pm–6 am), including every other weekend and holidays

• Ability to work independently with no direct supervision
• Good verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or mental illness preferred but not required
• Ability to learn computer operations, documentation procedures, and office equipment use

Schedule

Rotating midnight shift (6 pm–6 am), including every other weekend and holidays. Rotating 2-week schedule: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun, Wed, Thurs.
