About the role

Assists the Clare Bridge Program Manager or Coordinator in leading and implementing a calendar of person-centered, dementia-friendly programs that meet the specific needs of each resident within the dementia-care community. In alignment with Brookdale’s Resident and Family Engagement philosophy, you will provide person-centered programs that enhance residents’ quality of life while honoring their individual abilities, historical routines, interests, and preferences.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of person-centered programs tailored to residents’ needs and interests.
  • Assist in leading and engaging residents in the 7 domains of well-being programs—purposeful, intellectual, social, spiritual, emotional, and physical—in a dementia-friendly, structured environment, including sensory-focused small groups for residents who cannot participate in large-group settings.
  • Assist the Program Manager or Coordinator in reviewing individual resident service plans and complete program documentation as required by Brookdale standards or state regulations.
  • Ensure dementia-care programs comply with state, federal, and other regulations and align with Brookdale’s mission, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide guidance and resources to associates on the importance of programming/engagement and other areas regarding quality of life for residents.
  • Coordinate and participate in special events at the community, including family socials, marketing/sales events, and open houses.
  • Communicate positively with residents, families, and community professionals about the Brookdale dementia-care program and its benefits; share residents’ personal needs and successes with families.
  • Assist the Manager or Coordinator with meeting the department’s quality improvement initiatives, including the Brookdale Excellence Standards Tool (BEST).
  • Support planned programming events outside the community, which may include driving a community motor vehicle.
  • Assist with the volunteer program, including training and supervising volunteers.
  • Perform personal care, housekeeping, and dietary responsibilities as needed to maintain service quality in accordance with Clare Bridge Program standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree preferred.
  • Minimum one year of previous experience with older adults and persons with dementia preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and a current 3-year driving abstract with no more than one moving violation as a condition of employment.

Skills

  • Basic technical skills to complete repetitive, well-defined duties.
  • Basic knowledge of the organization to answer routine questions.
  • Basic PC and word-processing skills, preferably in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Physical Demands

  • Standing, walking, sitting.
  • Use of hands and fingers to handle or feel; reaching with hands and arms.
  • Climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Talking or hearing; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision.
  • Interaction with co-workers, residents, or vendors.
  • Occasional weekend, evening, or night work if needed for shift coverage.
  • On-call as needed.
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, infections, latex, blood-borne pathogens, and various drugs, chemicals, or biological hazards.
  • Occasional travel required.

Temporary associates are not benefits-eligible but may participate in the company’s 401(k) program.
