About the Role

The Connections for Living Director (CFLD) is a compassionate leader responsible for all operations within the Connections for Living (CFL) neighborhood and administers MBK signature programs to meet the specific needs of all CFL residents. The CFLD supervises the CFL team, oversees the implementation of resident service plans, and coordinates specialized services, including wellness programming, memory care dining, environment, family support, team development, and community education on dementia topics. The CFLD is responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, and managing a team committed to providing memory care residents superior, empathetic dementia care and maintaining their physical and emotional health in alignment with MBK’s principles and core values.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire, train, set goals and timelines, monitor and evaluate performance, and provide ongoing coaching for Caregivers, Wellness Program Coordinators, and Activities Assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure ongoing training and education for community team members, in accordance with all governing requirements and MBK policies.
  • Assist with potential memory care resident pre-move-in evaluations.
  • Ensure that the resident Lifestyle Survey Interview is completed according to MBK policy.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and regular review of resident service plans, ensuring input from the care team.
  • Alert the Director of Health Services of any changes in the physical or emotional health of the residents, and the department’s ability to meet those needs.
  • Provide dementia expertise and lead the behavior review process.
  • Work closely with all departments in the community to ensure memory care residents receive all available services to enhance their quality of life.
  • Ensure implementation of wellness programming policy and procedure.
  • Ensure a full schedule of programs tailored to meet resident needs, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
  • Aid in the community marketing effort through positive interactions, acting as a liaison between the community, families, outside health service providers, and other members of the greater community.
  • Coordinate and lead family and community education programs, support groups, and external outreach events.
  • Oversee care team staffing, scheduling, and daily assignments to meet all resident needs.
  • Maintain on-call rotations and fill in as a Caregiver to ensure continuity of care.
  • Act as Manager on Duty when necessary.
  • Manage the annual budget, focusing on meeting monthly financial goals, and controlling labor and expenses.
  • Perform administrative duties accurately and timely including expense reporting, submission of invoices, team member evaluations, etc.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests following established safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with Federal, State, and local regulations, and company policies and procedures concerning the department, including resident rights.
  • Promote and lead with a spirit of teamwork and open communication through consistent mentoring, coaching, and recognition program utilization, in alignment with MBK principles and core values.
  • Perform other job duties or special projects as assigned or requested by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • AA or Certificate in Gerontology, Social Services, Business Administration, or a similar field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Services, Gerontology, Social Work, Nursing, or Recreational Therapy, highly desirable.
  • Certified Dementia Practitioner or other similar certification, highly desirable.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification required.
  • Nurse’s Aide or similar certification if required by State regulations.
  • 1+ years of prior experience working with people with dementia required.
  • 1+ prior related work experience functioning in a similar memory care management role with supervisory experience, within a similar industry/work environment, essential.

Skills

  • Willingness and ability to effectively manage and respond to resident behaviors, including a wide variety of verbal and physical expressions, while maintaining a safe environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia.
  • Must complete required Background clearances, health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment (must be within the last 6 months).
  • Valid class of driver’s license required by state and valid insurance or reliable method of transportation for resident assessments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook) and operating standard office equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, write, and read English, and comfort with speaking in public settings and presenting to small groups.
  • Ability to make sound, independent decisions when circumstances warrant, remain calm, and effectively manage conflicts, stressful, or emergency situations.
  • Ability to always deal tactfully and professionally with personnel, residents, family members, and guests.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently without day-to-day oversight and supervision.
  • Must present a positive and professional image.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, lifting, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday, in the community, and between neighborhoods.
  • Ability to travel within 50 miles of the community to perform assessments/evaluations.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 250 pounds, as necessary.
  • Ability to assist in the physical movement of residents during routine transfers or in emergency situations.

Pay

Salary Range: $70,000-$74,000 annually.

Schedule

Tuesday-Saturday.
