About the role
The Harmony Square Director (HSD) oversees the day-to-day operations of the Harmony Square neighborhood. This includes interviewing, orienting, coaching, and training Harmony Square team members, supervising team members, developing and implementing resident programs, coordinating with other program teams, assessing resident needs, participating in conferences, utilizing community resources, maintaining an engaging environment, leading daily rounds, and promoting teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Conducts interviews, orientation, coaching, and ongoing training of Harmony Square team members in accordance with associate training standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Serves as the primary supervisor and coordinator for Harmony Square team members, including Life Enrichment Assistant, PCA’s/CNA’s.
- Develops, plans, and implements purposeful resident programs to enrich the lives of residents and families within the community and through outside trips and events.
- Partners with the Life Enrichment Director to hold Monthly Planning Meetings once a month to prepare for upcoming Monthly Programs and coordinate supplies.
- Coordinates planning forms, organizes supplies, plans calendars, events, and outings for the upcoming month.
- Plans and schedules high-quality, innovative programs for the Harmony Square neighborhood, focusing on dimensions of wellness and Reflections signature programs.
- Assesses resident needs in partnership with the community clinical team and initiates interventions as necessary.
- Attends Resident/Family Care Conferences and participates in the Family Call Program as directed by the Executive Director.
- Utilizes and connects with local community resources to enhance resident and family satisfaction.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for residents and families, collaborating with the clinical team.
- Leads the Behavior Expression process and ensures all aspects of dining are met through partnerships with the Director of Dining and Healthcare Director.
- Completes state-required care plans and service plans for Harmony Square residents in conjunction with the Healthcare Director.
- Schedules and participates in Alzheimer's Association and other local organization support group meetings monthly.
- Completes necessary training and insurance requirements to drive company vehicles.
- Manages and organizes daily huddles, leads monthly programming calls, and promotes a culture of teamwork and team member appreciation.
- Communicates with resident families promptly and effectively, completing required courses in adherence with state regulations and Relias Learning.
- Promotes a passion for working with individuals with dementia and carries out other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements
- Average of 3 to 5 years’ experience working with individuals with Dementia, including leading programs, managing behavior expression, and educating staff and families on Alzheimer's and Dementia.
- Adequate education and/or experience in areas such as recreation, activities, geriatrics, and dementia care, with an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, experience supervising and managing staff, and ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
