About the role
The Memory Care Director oversees the daily operations of the Memory Care Unit, including coordinating programs, activities, services, policies, and procedures to ensure a therapeutic, engaging, and safe environment for all residents. Responsibilities also include supervising and managing staff and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
Requirements
- Must possess a working knowledge of the most common dementia disease processes and psychopharmacology as pertains to residents with dementia disease processes.
- Must have a working knowledge of failure-free approaches to activities and ADLs.
- Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) preferred but will train.
- Minimum 2 years' experience caring for individuals with age-related brain disease.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when required.
- Must possess the ability to tactfully interact with personnel, neighbors, and families.
- Must possess an understanding of the social, psychological, physical, and leisure needs of residents living in a special care unit.
