Memory Care Director

About the role

The Memory Care Director manages and implements the programs, philosophies and standards for the Memory Care Center.

Responsibilities

• Manages and implements programs, philosophies and standards for the Memory Care Center.
• Trains, observes, and redirects staff through initial and ongoing education on the Alzheimer's disease process.
• Empathetically engages with residents and families, communicates clearly and effectively with interdisciplinary teams, and resolves conflicts and mediates disputes.
• Creates a comforting and engaging atmosphere for residents and collaborates with other departments, professionals, consultants, and organizations including government regulatory agencies.
• Works towards a common goal of providing excellent care for residents.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or in a human services field required.
• Previous social services experience preferred.
• Demonstrates C.A.R.E. values to residents, family members, customers, and staff.

Skills

• Understanding of social work principles, psychosocial assessments and interventions.
• Strong understanding of Person-Centered Approach to resident care.
• Experience and knowledge of dementia related behaviors, strategies and best practices.
• Interpersonal Communication: Empathetic engagement with residents and families. Clear, effective communication with interdisciplinary teams. Conflict resolution and mediation skills.
• Supportive Presence: Creating a comforting and engaging atmosphere for our residents.
• Collaboration: Works with and promotes collaboration among departments, professionals, consultants, and organizations including government regulatory agencies.
• Teamwork: The ability to work towards a common goal of excellent care for our residents.
