About the Role

A Member Experience Representative engages members by onboarding them with Alabama Credit Union, opening new accounts, and providing a relationship-building experience. This frontline position assists members with loan requests and financial transactions—such as deposits, withdrawals, credit card payments, balance transfers, and debit card or check orders—while offering information about products and services to meet their financial needs.

This role is based at the Cullman North Branch in Cullman, AL, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, building relationships, and honing salesmanship skills in a community-focused workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Open new member accounts and onboard individuals to Alabama Credit Union.
  • Assist members with basic financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, credit card payments, balance transfers, and debit card or check orders.
  • Provide accurate and efficient service while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Educate members about products and services to address their financial needs.
  • Handle cash and negotiable instruments securely and accurately.
  • Engage in relationship-building to promote additional products and services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service skills and experience handling cash.
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office products and web-based applications.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures for account opening and transaction processing.
  • Strong communication skills to describe and sell products and services to members.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to helping others and contributing to the community.

Preferred Qualifications: One to three years of similar or related experience. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Skills

  • First-level conflict resolution and relationship-building.
  • Diplomacy and tact in handling confidential and sensitive discussions.
  • Salesmanship and ability to identify member needs.
  • Gross and fine motor coordination for office tasks, including counting cash, sorting paper items, and scanning.

Physical Requirements

During a typical workday, the role involves:

  • Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
  • Using standard office machines and handling paper, including counting cash and sorting documents.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of incidental items, such as supplies.
  • Visual and auditory acuity for communication and transaction processing.
  • Reaching and fine motor coordination for tasks like scanning and filling.
