Melter

About the role

We are currently looking for a Melter in the Remelt Department at our Monroe, NC facility.

Responsibilities

• Operating the furnaces, air arc gouging, welding, saws, grinders, shot blaster, forklift and cranes.
• Demonstrating critical thinking skills, complex problem-solving skills, dependability, analytical thinking, troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
• Safely setting up and operating machines within standard operating procedures.
• Detecting faulty equipment and defective material.
• Preparing electrodes for remelting.
• Setting up and turning around remelt furnaces, operating and making necessary adjustments according to established procedures.
• Making furnace changes, lead changes, and performing other basic maintenance as needed.
• Maintaining accurate, complete, and legible logs, records, and charts.
• Pouring heats according to established procedures and assisting with hot transfers.
• Operating heavy machinery such as forklifts and cranes.
• Maintaining work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Following prescribed safety regulations, reporting all unsafe acts or conditions.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one (1) year of manufacturing experience.

Skills

• Basic computer skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
