About the role
The Meetings and Events Coordinator (MES Coordinator) plays a crucial role in ensuring that all meetings and events hosted at the InterContinental Miami Downtown are executed smoothly and with exceptional service.
Responsibilities
- Respond to client calls (internal and external) and special requests, obtaining final details, dates, times, and hotel room and meeting room requirements.
- Perform administrative duties such as typing proposals, letters, contracts, distributing BEOs, collecting data, updating databases, and completing departmental reports.
- Update menus in the system.
- Resolve requests and complaints to the satisfaction of the guest; inform supervisors of major problems, complaints, disturbances, or dissatisfied clients.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Coordinate details with other departments such as VIP amenities, special requests, or other service needs or special handling.
- Assist in coordinating details for groups and social events while they are onsite. Facilitate tasks and requests from on-site clients; ensure meeting rooms are prepared with boxes, room setups are correct, AV equipment is in place, and temperatures are set. Inform supervisors of any issues, problems, complaints, or dissatisfied guests.
Requirements
- Strong physical ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 25 lbs, including bending, kneeling, standing, and moving around the facility.
- Literate skills, typing at least 50 words per minute, proficient computer skills, and basic math skills.
- Compliance with local laws regarding food handling and alcohol service, as well as meeting the minimum age requirement.
- Excellent communication skills, warmth, friendliness, and ease in interacting with customers, colleagues, and third parties.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of hotel operations and procedures.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay
The hourly pay range for this role is $21.00 - $22.00.
Schedule
