MedSurg/Tele (3 East) RN - Clinical 12 HR FT Days 7am-7:30pm

About the Role

Responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Directs and coordinates all nursing care for patients in the medical-surgical/Telemetry services based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Serves as the Resource Nurse when oriented and as directed.

Responsibilities

• Sets priorities according to patient care needs.
• Completes initial assessments and re-assessments of patient care needs based on EMR review and/or direct observation.
• Documents care according to diagnosis and established standards of practice; reassesses as patient condition warrants.
• Prepares transfer and discharge documentation as appropriate.
• Recognizes signs and symptoms of potential emergencies, including behavioral and physical changes, and initiates appropriate actions and timely interventions.
• Identifies and properly reports indicators of abuse.
• Practices National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG).
• Uses appropriate methods to assess risk and prevent patient falls and skin breakdown.
• Manages restraints through assessment and alternative interventions.
• Performs and documents accurate and timely nursing interventions to meet patient care needs.
• Coordinates total nursing care using the plan of care to ensure continuity.
• Assumes responsibility for teaching and documenting patient education consistently.
• Ensures complete follow-up instructions are given, with demonstrated or verbalized understanding by the patient prior to discharge, and documents this in the medical record.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current California RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA), current and maintained.
• NIHSS certification, current and maintained.
• Proficient in oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to demonstrate leadership, interpersonal skills, teamwork, quality improvement, and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

• Chemotherapy proficiency.
• Proficiency in both written and oral English.
• Basic Dysrhythmia certificate.
