MEDIUM EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (INCLINE VILLAGE)
This position is a journey-level role operating medium equipment used in the construction and maintenance of County roads and facilities. The current vacancy is located in Incline Village, NV, and requires full-time, continuous availability in that location.
About the Role
This recruitment fills a full-time vacancy in the Community Services Department. The list established may also be used for future vacancies. Incline positions are covered under the WCEA non-supervisory contract, which includes location-specific benefits:
- $400.00 biweekly assignment differential for employees assigned to and residing in Incline Village
- $150.00 transportation allowance per pay period for non-residents assigned to Incline Village
- Additional department-specific benefits during approved operational periods, such as paid commute time, Washoe County-provided carpool, or eligibility to claim 24 miles of mileage roundtrip
Responsibilities
- Operate medium equipment used in the construction and maintenance of County roads and facilities
- Perform journey-level work in road maintenance or construction
- Inspect, care for, and maintain equipment
- Use electronic technology to track work activities, complete inspections, maintain records, or document maintenance
- Adapt to changing operational needs and contribute to a collaborative team environment
Requirements
- Two years of full-time work experience in road maintenance or road construction; OR
- One year of experience operating medium equipment; OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience
- Valid Class A State of Nevada Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement (required at time of application and must be maintained for continued employment)
- Residency in Nevada or neighboring California communities (e.g., Truckee, South Lake Tahoe, or Susanville) by the first day of work
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in road maintenance, construction, public works, or similar operations with a strong commitment to safety and quality service
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn, including experience operating, inspecting, and caring for equipment
- Proficiency using computers, tablets, or other electronic technology for work tracking, inspections, record-keeping, or maintenance documentation
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and effective communication skills
- Ability to contribute to a collaborative team environment
