About the role

The Section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology in the Department of Medicine is actively recruiting an Assistant Professor to join Baylor College of Medicine. This position supports the expansion at St. Luke's Health–The Woodlands Hospital and involves providing both outpatient and inpatient services. In addition to direct patient care, the faculty member will teach and mentor trainees, participate in section meetings and conferences, and have opportunities for research, quality improvement, and leadership development.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the inpatient consult service at Baylor St. Luke’s‑The Woodlands.
  • Develop treatment plans for patients and meet productivity benchmarks established by Baylor College of Medicine.
  • Attend all routine clinical meetings with the immediate work group.
  • Maintain required certifications and licensing.
  • Become proficient with the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, enter data, and document all patient encounters in a timely manner.
  • Order diagnostic services and referrals to specialists as needed.
  • Actively contribute to the clinical group practice, including educational activities such as Grand Rounds, monthly faculty meetings, and retreats.
  • Share call responsibilities within the clinical group and provide coverage for other providers when unavailable.
  • Meet or exceed all quality indicators.
  • Maintain professionalism in relationships with students, faculty, ancillary, and administrative staff.
  • Complete all professional billing and credentialing paperwork well before expiration dates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Medical degree (M.D.).
  • Residency and fellowship training in Gastroenterology or Hepatology.
  • Active license from the Texas Medical Board and board certification required to practice medicine in Texas.
