ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide one-on-one Medicare counseling to beneficiaries by phone or in person
- Aid beneficiaries with Medicare Part D Plan Finder comparisons and enrollment support
- Complete required government forms accurately and within the same workday or by the end of the next scheduled workday
- Perform daily data entry and maintain accurate records in required systems (e.g., STARS/SIRS)
- Accuracy should be maintained at 90% or higher
- Support recruitment and coordination of SHIINE volunteers
- Interact and collaborate with local volunteers, community partners, and organizations
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all beneficiary and program information
- Travel within the assigned region as directed by the SHIINE Manager
- Stay current on Medicare updates, regulations, and program changes and attend all required trainings
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated knowledge of Medicare programs, benefits, and enrollment processes, along with the ability to learn and stay current on regulatory updates and program requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a business-related or human services field, or equivalent experience
- Medicare, Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP), or insurance-related experience strongly preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills and can clearly explain complex information to diverse audiences, including older adults, caregivers, and community partners
- Comfortable presenting in group settings and responding to questions is essential
- Strong organizational and time management skills are required to manage appointments, documentation, and reporting
- The ability to collaborate effectively with beneficiaries, volunteers, and partners while maintaining professionalism and empathy is critical
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required to support communication, documentation, data tracking, and reporting
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while conducting phone-based or computer-based work
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the workday
- Frequent use of hands for typing, writing, and handling documents
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds as needed
- Frequent travel within the region for outreach, appointments, and trainings
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone
- Frequent use of computer screens for extended periods of time
- Comfortable working in both office and community-based environments with moderate noise levels
