Senior Health Plan Educator

About the role
This position will design, develop, and deliver internal and external training programs for the Banner Plan Network department. This hybrid role combines strategic curriculum design with a mix of remote work and essential on-site facilitation. The position requires regular travel across Arizona locations to deliver high-impact training that ensures compliance, enhances member care, builds empathy, and supports healthcare operations. This role ensures that staff members and contracted providers are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively support health plan members and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Leads the design and development of innovative training programs, ensuring materials meet health plan regulatory compliance, member safety guidelines, and clinical standards.
- Partners with health plan leadership, clinical educators, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs like doctors, nurses, or health plan specialists) to translate clinical protocols into clear learning pathways to align training with organizational goals.
- Assesses training needs through collaboration with department leaders and performance data analysis.
- Maintains and updates training curriculum to reflect policy changes and regulatory updates.
- Establishes metrics and feedback loops to measure training effectiveness on staff performance and member care outcomes through assessments, surveys, and performance metrics.
- Coordinates training schedules, tracks employee certifications, and monitors training budgets.
- Travels across Arizona locations to deliver high-impact, in-person training, launch new evidence-based curriculum, and/or conduct practical application workshops.
- Supports Banner Plan Networks continuous improvement initiatives related to staff development for AHCCCS contract requirements and request for proposals (RFPs).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Instructional Design, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- 4+ years of specialized training experience and curriculum development experience in healthcare or ed-tech, or related field, with at least 2+ years specifically within a healthcare or clinical setting.
- One certification in any of the following evidence-based practices: Trauma-Informed Care, Grief & Loss, Cultural Competency & Diversity, Crisis De-escalation, Motivational Interviewing, ASIST 12 or SafeTalk, Suicide Intervention (QPR).
- Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging, and effective educational content in curriculum development and instructional design.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills to connect with diverse audiences.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, experience with adult learning principles, and training delivery methods.
- Proficiency in translating healthcare regulations, clinical procedures, and software systems with expertise in adult learning theories.
- Proficiency with industry-standard authoring tools and Learning Management Systems (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate).
- Ability to travel to and/or from facilities and other off-site locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Experience serving as a subject-matter expert (SME) within a healthcare, managed care, insurance, or regulatory environment.
- Experience with instructional design, adult learning methodologies, eLearning platforms, webinar facilitation, and multimedia presentation development.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint), virtual training platforms, and multimedia content creation tools.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, either 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM. This position is based in Arizona only.
Pay
Estimated pay range: $26.82 - $40.22 per hour. Banner Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted compensation range is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay Banner Health in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location, along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure pay equity is achieved and maintained.
