Medical Technologist - On-Call

Responsibilities

• Performs lab tests on specimens using automated and manual methods.
• Evaluates laboratory results for discrepancies to ensure proper reporting.
• Enters pertinent information into the computer to generate results.
• Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs of complex lab equipment and calibrates instruments to ensure reliable results.
• Maintains QA/QC records, identifies variances, resolves QA/QC issues, and troubleshoots as necessary.
• Participates in problem-solving, laboratory policy making, and information distribution.
• Participates in VDL activities, staff meetings, SOP drafting, and process improvement efforts.
• Consults with veterinarians and other clients to provide information and lab results.

Qualifications

• Board certified as a MT or CLS (ASCP or BOR) or eligible as MT or CLS (ASCP or BOR).

Skills

• Proficiency in performing complex chemical and microscopic tests.
• Ability to evaluate laboratory results for accuracy and completeness.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Strong communication skills to consult with veterinarians and clients.

Schedule
