MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST/ MEDICAL LAB TECHNICIAN
About the Role
Produce accurate results in hematology, serology, chemistry, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology and other designated areas under the supervision of a medical technologist. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of techniques, principles, instruments, and their inter-relationships, as well as the physiological conditions affecting test results.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, or similar Bachelor of Science degree along with a certificate in Medical Technology (MT) or Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), or an Associate Degree in Medical Technology along with a similar Bachelor of Science degree. Students in their senior year of a Bachelor’s Degree in MT may be accepted.
Certification & Licensure
ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent certification preferred. Registry or certification is required before performing Blood Bank procedures or working alone.
Experience
1–6 months of related experience. Clinical experience gained during college coursework may be accepted.
Requirements
- Maintain unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
- Effectively communicate with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice.
- Advocate for quality patient safety and satisfaction as a daily practice.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills necessary to complete position requirements.
- Show professionalism in effectively communicating with customers and promoting a positive service atmosphere.
- Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment while producing quality work.
