Medical Technologist - Lake Livingston PRN

Responsibilities

• Performs an acceptable productivity level without a significant error rate on a variety of medical technology procedures.
• Examines growth patterns of bacteria and fungus in patient specimens and cultures.
• Analyzes blood and other body fluids.
• Performs blood compatibility testing.
• Demonstrates initiative in adapting to changes or unusual circumstances, promoting cooperation and minimizing disruption to the working environment.
• Aids in the care and maintenance of laboratory work area and furnishings/equipment.
• Prioritizes and organizes duties while remaining flexible to meet the needs of the laboratory customers.
• Maintains and inventory of supplies in work areas to ensure efficient departmental operations and avoid duplication of energy and services.

Quality

• Ensures quality is paramount in all aspects of daily functions and work processes.
• Performs quality control and instrument check procedures.
• Maintains accurate and complete records of daily activities.
• Adheres to departmental and hospital policies and procedures, and follows safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards.

Customer Service

• Exhibits a professional manner, appearance, and performance in the approach to job-related duties.
• Delivers quality health care services with high standards, especially when interacting with patients of different age ranges.

Qualifications

• Preferred but not required: Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.
• One year training in a NAACLS approved MT/CLS program.
• Licensed in Louisiana as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist (CLS-G) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Specialist (CLS-S) with Registry in applicable specialty for department and position.
