Your Role
- Conduct patient testing across all laboratory departments, adhering to established protocols.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control measures for lab instruments.
- Handle and process specimens with precision, ensuring compliance with testing and safety standards.
- Accurately document, review, and report patient test results, including critical values.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting test performance or escalate as necessary.
- Assist with supervisory duties under the guidance of the laboratory supervisor.
Specimen Collection & Clerical Duties
- Collect and prepare specimens following prescribed guidelines, ensuring patient comfort and understanding.
- Accessee, label, and distribute specimens to appropriate lab departments.
- Manage billing forms, lab requisitions, and patient records with accuracy.
- Use computer systems for data input, storage, and retrieval.
What We’re Looking For
- Certification: ASCP, NCA, AMT, or equivalent national certification required.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of lab testing protocols, specimen handling, and quality control procedures.
- Problem Solver: Ability to identify and address issues promptly and effectively.
- Detail-Oriented: Commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and following procedures.
- Team Player: Willingness to collaborate and assist with supervisory tasks as needed.
Summary
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE for MLT
Minimum of Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technician (Chemical or Biological Sciences) or Medical Laboratory technician from an accredited institution.
Two years’ experience preferred, but not required
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE For MT
Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical biological or clinical laboratory science or meet other provisions defined in CLIA 42CFT 493.
Two years’ experience preferred but not required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS for MLT
National recognized laboratory certification such as ASCP, NCA or AMT is required.
Current BLS certification
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS for MT
National recognized laboratory certification such as ASCP or AMT is required within 6 months of hire.
Exceptions or extensions may be given on an individual basis, which is based on extenuating circumstances.
All exceptions or extensions must be approved by the laboratory director, laboratory manager and director of human resources.
