Medical Technologist III - Evening Shift
About the role
This position is supervised by the designated section head and reports to the laboratory manager through the section head. Essential functions include performing clinical laboratory procedures, quality assurance, and instrument maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates technical skills and knowledge within the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Urinalysis and Microbiology.
- Demonstrates technical skills and knowledge of all laboratory equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of all laboratory equipment problems/issues and notifies supervisor as needed.
- Analyzes specimens according to established laboratory SOP’s.
- Maintains accurate records of results manually and/or electronically in the LIS system.
- Accurately follows CAP, UMPA, and GLP (when appropriate) guidelines during laboratory testing.
- Adheres to protocols for quality control and follows the Laboratory Quality Plan.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field; or qualified as a Technologist under guidelines of the Laboratories Administration of the State of Maryland. Must be ASCP certified. Ten or more years of experience. Ability to work independently.

Pay
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, including the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
