About the role

You will perform routine and specialized procedures, review and approve clinical test results for use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients in accordance with established protocol for a laboratory performing high complexity procedures as defined by the standards of the Clinical laboratory Improvement Act of 1988. Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
  • Performs routine and specialized procedures, reviews and approves clinical test results.
  • Interprets laboratory results and ensures accuracy and compliance with protocols.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure patient care is optimized.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology (Medical Technology), biological, chemical or related science; or
  • A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics – and
  • Satisfactory completion of a clinical laboratory educational rotation;
  • Or a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, including 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of biological science (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of chemistry, one semester (one quarter) of mathematics,
  • One year of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology and/or Clinical Microscopy within the last ten years.

Qualifications

  • Current or eligible ASCP, AMT, or NCA certification as a Medical Technologist desirable but not necessary with documented training and education.
  • Previously certified Medical Technologists, who met the credentialing requirements by the Department of Health Education and Welfare (HEW certified MT).
  • General knowledge of laboratory methodologies, interpretation of results, and quality assurance.
  • Completed a accredited internship in all areas of the laboratory that the employee is to be responsible for or have documented / traceable on the job training in an accredited laboratory.

Skills

  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Comprehension, skill and command of oral and written English language.

Pay and Schedule

  • Pay range: $29.86 - $43.34.
  • Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
  • The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
