Medical Technologist II - Anatomic Pathology
About the role
The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a skilled Medical Technologist to support veterinary diagnostic and research activities through a wide range of laboratory procedures. This role performs routine, complex, and specialized histology techniques on diverse specimen types, ensuring accurate tissue processing, staining, and slide imaging to support diagnostic interpretation.
Responsibilities
- Performing routine and advanced Histopathology procedures.
- Serving as a key member of a collaborative laboratory team, supporting the maintenance of smooth lab operations and assisting with the resolution of technical issues.
- Maintaining quality, safety, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Participating in complex technical projects or process evaluations.
Requirements
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related biological science field, with a minimum of four years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in histology laboratory procedures, with specific understanding of veterinary histology.
- Ability to organize competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to balance individual responsibilities with shared workflow and communication.
- Physical requirements include sitting or standing for extended periods, pushing, pulling, or lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Able to adhere to quality and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related biological science field, with a minimum of four years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire.
Skills
- Proficiency in histology laboratory procedures.

- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Benefits
While the regular business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the specific schedule may change to meet the needs of the business, requiring employees to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and University holidays and scheduled breaks.
Pay
$33.10 - $38.46 per hour
Schedule
Full-time three-year term position with potential for extension contingent upon funding and performance.
