About the role

The Medical Technologist (MT) position at our facility involves performing a wide range of clinical analyses in various laboratory sections. This includes chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, and urinalysis. The MT is responsible for specimen collection, processing, and analysis, as well as maintaining quality control and ensuring the laboratory's compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely performs clinical analyses in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, and urinalysis.
  • Collects, receives, and processes specimens.
  • Evaluates specimens for appropriateness and takes necessary corrective actions.
  • Prioritizes specimens for processing based on established priorities.
  • Aliquots specimens according to established protocols.
  • Analyzes laboratory samples for technical review and interpretation.
  • Evaluates quality control and performs maintenance and troubleshooting on instrumentation and equipment.
  • Monitors and maintains stock of reagents, standards, and control materials.
  • Reviews and interprets test results for accuracy and completeness.
  • Stores specimens and related materials according to protocols.
  • Ensures the laboratory is inspection-ready at all times.

Requirements

  • Education: Certification with AMT or ASCP, Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, allied health technologies, or science.
  • Certification: Must be certified with AMT or ASCP within the year of hire.
  • Experience: Not required but preferred to have previous experience in a hospital laboratory or clinical laboratory.
  • Skills: Ability to analyze test results for accuracy, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on analyzers, ability to work in a stat environment, basic computer skills.

Qualifications

  • Medical Technologist (MT) certification from AMT or ASCP.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Education from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, or biological sciences or medical laboratory science.
  • Foreign-educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from the IERF.
  • US-educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript.

Pay

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $28-42, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
