About the role
The Medical Technologist works in all sections of the Laboratory (Hematology, Chemistry, Serology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Phlebotomy). Responsibilities include patient specimen collection, specimen preparation, chemical analysis of body fluids, quality control activities, documentation, and instrument maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Immunoassay, Arterial Blood Gases, Urinalysis, Hemostasis, Transfusion Services, Serology, Molecular Diagnostics, Phlebotomy, and other laboratory disciplines.
- Collect patient specimens via venipuncture, capillary/finger stick, or heel puncture.
- Prepare specimens for testing and conduct chemical analysis of blood, urine, and stool.
- Monitor and participate in continuous quality control programs to ensure accurate laboratory results.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to laboratory activities.
- Perform instrument maintenance.
- Follow HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of medical, personal, financial, employee, and organizational records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), or equivalent.
