Key Responsibilities
- Collect and process patient specimens, including venipuncture
- Perform laboratory testing according to established procedures
- Review, interpret, and accurately report test results in the LIS
- Identify and report critical and abnormal results
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
- Perform quality control, calibrations, and proficiency testing
- Maintain supplies, equipment, and a clean work environment
- Afford assistance with training and orientation of new staff
- Provide general supervisory coverage when required
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related science OR 60 semester hours with required science and laboratory coursework
- Experience: Completion of an approved clinical laboratory training program OR Minimum 3 months documented training in each testing specialty performed
- Certification: Medical Technologist (ASCP) or equivalent certification required, must obtain certification within one year of hire if not currently registered
