Medical Technologist

Key Responsibilities

• Collect and process patient specimens, including venipuncture
• Perform laboratory testing according to established procedures
• Review, interpret, and accurately report test results in the LIS
• Identify and report critical and abnormal results
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
• Perform quality control, calibrations, and proficiency testing
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and a clean work environment
• Afford assistance with training and orientation of new staff
• Provide general supervisory coverage when required

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related science OR 60 semester hours with required science and laboratory coursework
• Experience: Completion of an approved clinical laboratory training program OR Minimum 3 months documented training in each testing specialty performed
• Certification: Medical Technologist (ASCP) or equivalent certification required, must obtain certification within one year of hire if not currently registered
