Medical Technologist
About the role
The Medical Technologist position at the New Bolton Center supports the Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic Laboratory System (PADLS) at Widener Hospital, local veterinary practices, and the Pennsylvania agricultural industries. This role involves providing diagnostic services in bacteriology, mycology, and serology.
Responsibilities
- Diagnostic microbiology (aerobic and anaerobic bacterial cultures, fungal cultures, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, toxin testing, data entry and serological assays)
- Inventory control
- Process Quality Control of equipment, reagents, programs, test kits, media for daily, weekly and monthly QC programs, proficiency test coordination, audits for AAVLD certification and GLP requirements, new employee training
- Research and grant program/project coordination: Acquiring, testing, performance, follow-up, data processing, reporting
- New test and equipment validation and verification
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Manheim Field Office rotational coverage
Qualifications
- Research Specialist B: Bachelor of Science Degree and 2 to 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Research Specialist C: Bachelor of Science Degree and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 7 -10 years of relevant experience is preferred.

- Intermittently sitting/standing/stooping
- Using tools requiring high dexterity
- Requires extensive safety training
