Medical Technologist
Job Overview
The Medical Technologist will assume responsibility for performing routine and complex biological and biochemical tests on blood, urine, tissues, body fluids, and other specimens. They will also recognize results or issues requiring referral to a supervisor.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or sciences
- Knowledge of specialized principles or techniques, typically obtained through a formal four-year college/university academic program
- Registry with a recognized board of registry for medical technology, such as the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, preferred
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
- Required certifications and licenses if applicable
Scheduling Requirements
This is a non-exempt position.
Essential Functions
- Well-lighted, sometimes poorly ventilated, and intermittently noisy environment
- Stressful pressure episodes
- Some exposure to stains
- Frequent exposure to infectious biological materials, stains, caustic, toxic, and noxious agents
- Occasional potential for electrical shock and laceration
- Moderate amounts of sitting, standing, or walking
- Occasional lifting of moderately heavy objects weighing up to 20 pounds
