Job Overview
The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing routine and complex biological and biochemical tests on various specimens to assist physicians in diagnosing and managing patient conditions.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or sciences
- Knowledge of specialized principles or techniques, typically obtained through a formal four-year college/university academic program
- Registry with a recognized board of registry for medical technology, such as the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, preferred
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
Essential Functions
- Well-lighted, sometimes poorly ventilated, and intermittently noisy environment
- Stressful pressure episodes
- Sometimes exposed to stains
- Frequent exposure to infectious biological materials, stains, caustic, toxic, and noxious agents
- Occasionally exposed to electrical shock and laceration
