Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient testing across all laboratory departments, adhering to established protocols.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control measures for lab instruments.
  • Handle and process specimens with precision, ensuring compliance with testing and safety standards.
  • Accurately document, review, and report patient test results, including critical values.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting test performance or escalate as necessary.
  • Assist with supervisory duties under the guidance of the laboratory supervisor.
  • Collect and prepare specimens following prescribed guidelines, ensuring patient comfort and understanding.
  • Accession, label, and distribute specimens to appropriate lab departments.
  • Manage billing forms, lab requisitions, and patient records with accuracy.
  • Use computer systems for data input, storage, and retrieval.

Requirements

  • National certification such as ASCP, NCA, AMT, or equivalent (required within 6 months of hire).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or meet other provisions defined in CLIA 42CFT 493.
  • Two years’ experience preferred but not required.
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification.
