Responsibilities
- Conduct patient testing across all laboratory departments, adhering to established protocols.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control measures for lab instruments.
- Handle and process specimens with precision, ensuring compliance with testing and safety standards.
- Accurately document, review, and report patient test results, including critical values.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting test performance or escalate as necessary.
- Assist with supervisory duties under the guidance of the laboratory supervisor.
- Collect and prepare specimens following prescribed guidelines, ensuring patient comfort and understanding.
- Accession, label, and distribute specimens to appropriate lab departments.
- Manage billing forms, lab requisitions, and patient records with accuracy.
- Use computer systems for data input, storage, and retrieval.
Requirements
- National certification such as ASCP, NCA, AMT, or equivalent (required within 6 months of hire).
- Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or meet other provisions defined in CLIA 42CFT 493.
- Two years’ experience preferred but not required.
- Current CPR/BLS Certification.
