About the role
The Robert J. Dole Wichita VAMC is seeking a highly qualified Phlebotomist to serve in the Pathology & Lab Department. The incumbent will serve as a Medical Technician/Phlebotomist with the responsibility of obtaining blood samples by venipuncture from inpatients and outpatients.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Medical Technician/Phlebotomist in the Pathology & Lab Department.
- Obtain blood samples by venipuncture from inpatients and outpatients.
- Perform phlebotomy/blood draws on human patients.
Requirements
- To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement - 07/21/2026.
- Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
- Selective Placement Factors (SPF) are a prerequisite to appointment and represent minimum requirements for the position.
Qualifications
- You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
- General Experience: Demonstrating the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position or familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation.
- Specialized Experience: Performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings, or technical support work in a closely related field.
