Medical Technical Assistant 1- OB/GYN (Knoxville)

Job Summary/Essential Job Functions

• Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
• Affords nursing support to Internal Medicine residents and attending physicians.
• Aids physicians and residents with procedures and patient visits.
• Obtains vitals and brief health history.
• Sends lab orders.
• Administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
• Enters quality data into electronic medical records and assists with coding and billing.
• Performs telephone triage according to established protocols.
• Schedules referrals to specialists as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
• Experience: Six (6) months of work experience in a medical office. (Experience as a nurse assistant desired. Knowledge of medical billing preferred. Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.)
• Licenses/Certifications: Current licensure as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or CCMA in the state of Tennessee required. (COPY OF LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)
