Medical Surgical Technician(PRN) Coast - Medical

Responsibilities

• Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers in accordance with Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
• Assist with patient care to complete tasks, perform orders, and document interventions in accordance with scope of service under supervision of licensed nurse, including:
  • Obtaining vital signs
  • Performing wound care
  • Intake/output monitoring
  • Specimen collection
  • Additional activities with verified competency
• Performs or assists with performing nutritional/hydration interventions (feeding, providing fluids, or snacks).
• Supports optimal daily operation of the department by:
  • Performing tasks associated with general unit organization and cleanliness
  • Maintaining department supplies
  • Handling clerical duties
  • Initiating and maintaining hygiene/cleanliness of patients, patient environments, and unit environments
• Assist with transportation of patients and utilization of appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patients and staff.
• Fosters an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect for all patients, families, and visitors.
• Contributes to the overall performance of the department and participates proactively in problem-solving initiatives.
• Floats to other departments as needed.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Phlebotomy, CNA, or EMT certification or 1 year of clinical experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
