About the role
This position involves assessing, planning, directing, administering, teaching, and evaluating nursing care. The role includes managing a team, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and providing high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Renders/monitors professional nursing care to patients as scheduled and as needed
- Reviews chart documentation for completion, including ordered tests
- Reviews Standard of Care
- Ensures staff rounds with physicians
- Interacts with physicians to promote communication and smooth transitions of information to nursing
- Makes administrative rounds twice a week and interacts with patients and families to answer questions, concerns, and provide assurance
- Investigates reports of patients who refuse care or treatment
- Completes monthly staffing summary to assure compliance with staffing
- Affords patients advocacy to ensure the maintenance of quality care
- Aids in coordinating care for patients, facilitating discharge planning, and patient education
Management Responsibilities
- Directly supervises Departmental personnel
- Completes the hiring process per policy
- Schedules/provides applicable training per department and Hospital specifications
- Maintains Departmental in-service/educational requirements
- Provides HR with in-service/educational requirements
- Adheres to the licensure/certification/registration policy
- Maintains employee completion of Hospital/Departmental orientation
- Fulfills the Hospital employee discipline policy
- Submits all employee payroll forms to payroll/HR as needed
- Attends all meetings in which assigned
- Knowledge of the Hospital/Departmental computer systems and able to train others on the system(s)
- Promotes teamwork to increase engagement of staff
- Delegates tasks to promote effective time management
- Networks to increase professional growth
- Manages conflict to increase employee satisfaction
- Develops/updates departmental strategic plan
- Recognizes the need to change and accepts it
- Actively seeks ways to reduce cost and conserve resources to approve efficiency

Qualifications
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred
- Two to four years of management experience required
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure in the State of Ohio
- CPR certification
- ACLS certification within 12 months of employment
