Essential Duties, Functions And Responsibilities
- Inputs patient information into the electronic data system to generate a visit record for the patient.
- Processes requests for Medical Record utilizing electronic data system.
- Records and maintains an accurate record of pertinent patient information.
- Inputs visit specific data into electronic data system for each patient.
- Verifies completeness of visit records, ensuring adherence to required, established standards prior to visit record being forwarded to Medical Records.
- Schedules appointments for patients needing following up in the clinic or specialty areas.
- Processes department requests as ordered for the patient by the Therapist.
- Functions as telecommunication expert and coordinator to ensure effective departmental communication.
- Organizes, monitors, and displays daily call schedule for all specialty clinics.
- Compiles, processes and forwards consultation requests and transfers submitted for the patients.
- Performs or actively facilitates faxing of appropriate documents and records to other facilities or medical providers.
- Communicates and coordinates with Contract Health to ensure quick and accurate adherence to transfer protocols and processes.
- Processes departmental mail and routes correspondence(s) to the appropriate individual.
- Actively participates in departmental Quality Assurance/Process Improvement Program.
- Records and maintains daily census, disease specific and acuity records.
- Inputs and maintains requests for maintenance and Bio-Med repairs through an electronic ordering system.
- Affords assistance with orientation of new staff.
- Functions as Records Management Resource for department as needed.
- Orders and receives administrative supplies and supplementary patient care delivery supplies.
- Ensures compliance with HIPAA standards and supports compliance with established CMS Standards.
- Adheres to established Hand Hygiene Standards.
- Adheres to Universal Precautions and Infection Control protocols.
- Ensures safe, accurate processing all documents.
- Reports safety issues or concerns to Safety Officer, Security, or Nurse Executive.
- Affords assistance, promotion, and support compliance with established CMS Standards.
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: Two (2) years of direct work experience.
- Education: One (1) year (cumulative 30 credit hours) post-secondary education in related field.
