Medical Staff Associate

Responsibilities

  • Greet and register new plasma donors into the donor management computer system.
  • Conduct screening procedures including taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and arm checks.
  • Perform finger sticks to test donors for hematocrit and total protein using screening equipment.
  • Monitor the electronic donor questionnaire system.
  • Determine donor eligibility through medical history interviews, physical examinations, and educating donors on donor testing, HIV/AIDS, donation risks, informed consent, confidential self-exclusion, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) testing as necessary.
  • Provide counseling to donors regarding unacceptable test results.
  • Initiate and assist in donor investigations regarding Post Donation Information.
  • Evaluate and attend to donor adverse events during the donation process.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures for medical emergencies, including communication with the Center Medical Director and donor transport to emergency medical care facilities.
  • Communicate and seek direction from the Center Medical Director and Center Management as necessary.
  • Learn and maintain thorough familiarity and compliance with all state and federal regulations, Standard Operating Procedure Manual, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal Company Procedures.
  • Understand and follow applicable Company and departmental policies and procedures, including any future updates.
  • Maintain open communication with Management.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during interactions with donors, employees, and vendors.
  • Accept performance feedback professionally.
  • Ensure regular attendance and punctuality for all scheduled shifts and mandatory meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of work experience preferred.
  • Active state license or certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, or Paramedic, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.

Requirements

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret directions and instructions.
  • Perform basic math calculations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Reasoning ability to identify, interpret, and apply appropriate information.
