Medical Sonographer

Role Summary Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures under supervision to assist in patient diagnosis across all ages. Key responsibilities include: Conducting ultrasound exams such as abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, neuro, breast, small parts, interventional, and Doppler.Using sterile techniques for invasive procedures and ensuring proper patient positioning and transducer selection to optimize imaging.Operating ultrasound equipment and support systems, including HIS, RIS, PACS, and offsite radiologist services.Reviewing patient history, documenting studies accurately, and maintaining patient confidentiality.Coordinating exams with other departments and communicating effectively with medical staff, patients, and families.Maintaining equipment, supplies, and cleanliness; troubleshooting technical issues and notifying supervisors as needed.Participating in quality improvement initiatives, training students, and supporting clinical education.Accessing and administering relevant medications following protocols.Engaging in professional development and departmental projects. Qualifications And Skills Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with ARDMS certification in abdomen within three months.Knowledge of sonographic anatomy, ultrasound physics, Doppler techniques, and both invasive and non-invasive procedures.Proficiency with ultrasound equipment, PACS, and related systems.Strong communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.Ability to handle stressful situations, maintain confidentiality, and work independently with minimal supervision.CPR certification required.
