Medical Scribe - Twin Cities Orthopedics
About the role
The Medical Scribe is responsible for documenting patient data into electronic health records system, as well as assisting with patient care and related administrative tasks in clinic to increase efficiency and productivity of providers. This is a full-time position working the below schedule out of our Blaine location.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside providers to document patient data into electronic health records system during patient visit
- Ensure accuracy of patient information entered into system
- Follow coding requirements during entry of patient information
- Retrieve data as needed related to the patient visit
- With appropriate training, may also assist with:
- Preparing, stocking, and cleaning exam room
- Rooming patients, compiling patient medical data, and preparing for x-rays
- Aiding in information gathering prior to and during patient visit
- Aiding in surgical x-ray procurement
- Application and removal of casts
- Prescribing: Obtaining provider approval and calling/faxing to pharmacy
- Aiding in obtaining prescriptions, changing dressings, applying durable medical equipment, and removing sutures/staples under provider direction
- Assisting in medical supply inventory and ordering
- Aiding in clinical related paperwork including disability forms, referrals, etc.
- Aiding in returning patient telephone calls
- Scheduling imaging studies and injections
- Assisting with any other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent required
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology required
- Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments preferred
Qualifications
- Ability to comply with company policies, procedures, practices, and business ethics guidelines
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, (e.g. HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.)
- Communicate respectfully and professionally in face-to-face, phone and email interactions
- Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Benefits & Compensation
Actual starting pay will vary based on education, skills, and experience. A $1,500 sign-on bonus will be offered for select roles, payable on first paycheck with a 12-month commitment. Working Conditions
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and move continuously throughout the shift
- Must be able to frequently perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, and reaching
- Visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents
- Auditory ability to participate in phone or video calls clearly
- Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, printer)
