About the Role
Join Amgen’s mission of serving patients with serious illnesses. As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for IgG4-Rare Disease, you will serve as a scientific liaison to the medical and scientific community, establishing and maintaining relationships with prominent experts and clinicians in North and Central Florida.
Responsibilities
- Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with medical thought leaders, academic institutions, large group practices, medical directors, managed care decision makers, and pharmacy directors in alignment with compliance, legal, and regulatory guidelines.
- Understand, integrate, and effectively communicate scientific, medical, and commercial value of products to the medical community and key internal/external audiences.
- Prioritize and work in a self-directed manner in a dynamic environment, including gathering and communicating customer feedback.
- Align customers’ unmet needs with available internal resources.
- Collaborate with functional areas to identify opportunities addressable via scientific, medical, or health economic information.
- Identify and train potential new speakers for sponsored external speaker programs.
- Participate in national/regional conferences, meetings, and scientific venues to support Medical/Clinical strategy, gather competitive intelligence, and maintain relationships with key investigators.
- Evaluate external clinical research collaboration opportunities and facilitate investigator-initiated trials (IITs) and company-sponsored trials in partnership with medical affairs and clinical development teams.
- Monitor the competitive environment for advances, trends, and new therapies in therapeutic areas, providing feedback to senior leadership on competitor initiatives.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree OR Master’s degree & 3 years of Medical Affairs experience OR Bachelor’s degree & 5 years of Medical Affairs experience.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O. (other doctoral degrees considered).
- 2+ years of experience in scientific or medical affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
- Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a strong ability to network.
- Willingness to travel up to 60% for territory management, conferences, and company meetings.
- Ability to work extended hours (up to 15-hour days) due to travel.
- Proficiency in learning new business applications across hardware tools (e.g., PC, iPad).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Professional, proactive demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
