Medical Referral Clerk

About the role

Resolution Think, through its joint venture partnership with Cognito Systems, LLC, is seeking a Referral Clerk to support administrative operations within the military treatment facility at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The ideal candidate will provide professional customer service while assisting patients and staff with referral and appointment coordination.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Key Duties

• Answer incoming calls and assist patients and staff with referral-related questions.
• Review and process referrals for completeness and eligibility.
• Schedule and reschedule specialty appointments according to MTF guidelines.
• Process routine, urgent, and emergent referrals within established timeframes.
• Coordinate referrals with outside providers or insurance when services are not available at the MTF.
• Maintain accurate referral documentation in MHS GENESIS and other required systems.
• Educate patients on referral procedures, appointments, and expected timelines.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen per contract requirements.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Working knowledge of medical terminology plus one (1) year of administrative experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting. Referral management, medical scheduling, patient administration, or insurance verification preferred.
• Certifications: Current Basic Life Support certification (AHA or Red Cross) where required by the MTF.
• Additional Requirements:
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency and keyboarding sufficient to sustain electronic health record workflow.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Favorable employment subject to completion of background, security, and drug screening requirements as stated in contract.
  • Willingness to comply with DHA medical screening requirements.
