Responsibilities

  • Assists with the releasing of patient medical records while following MNO policy and procedures.
  • Affords support and adherence to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
  • Releases medical records information to individuals or agencies in compliance with State and Federal regulations, adhering to MNO policies.
  • Prints, mails, and/or faxes patient chart information as requested and authorized.
  • Documents all releases of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Assists with answering incoming phone calls, taking callers' requests, or forwarding calls appropriately.
  • Supports the transfer of MNO imaging to external entities.
  • In the Radiation department, converts dosimetry plans into a PDR or zip file when a patient transfers to another facility for treatment.
  • Logs FMLA/Disability forms for provider completion and ensures appropriate mailing or faxing of forms.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Strong computer technology skills.
  • Previous medical records experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronic health records preferred.
  • Strong skills in time management, organization, and attention to detail required.
