Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize open medical charts, ensuring timely completion and closure as needed.
- Perform administrative duties related to medical records including answering phone inquiries, managing correspondence, and supporting healthcare staff.
- Cook up secure shredding of outdated records in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
- Cook up coordination during state and consultant visits, demonstrating professionalism and teamwork.
- Efficiently manage the medical records office—monitor supplies, uphold organization, and ensure confidentiality.
- Prepare for and assist with Medicare and OMIG audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Process medical record requests for disability, no-fault, and other legal cases in accordance with proper laws and protocols.
- Type physicians’ orders and assist with transcriptions for discharge charts.
- Follow proper credentialing protocols, ensuring compliance when releasing medical records.
Requirements
- Must understand nursing home credentialing for providers and follow proper protocols and laws for releasing medical records.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical records management.
- At least 1 year of experience in a Nursing Home or Long-Term Care setting.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and medical recordkeeping systems.
- Computer literacy, including Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Edge, and PointClickCare (PCC).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to make independent decisions.
