Primary Responsibilities / Accountabilities / Essential Functions
- Answer incoming calls to respond to inquiries made by patients, vendors, and insurance companies.
- Schedule patient appointments via telephone.
- Obtain complete and accurate medical history, including medications.
- Enter all patient data into electronic medical record.
- Screen and route patient calls to other clinic employees.
- Ensure accurate registration, appointment scheduling and follow-up appointment scheduling in database.
- Obtain patient demographic and verify insurance information.
- Scan pertinent patient information into EMR including patient authorizations, recent labs delivered by patient, etc.
- Obtain patient authorization for medical records release (HIPAA compliance).
- Communicate information related to COVID-19 with quarantine isolation team.
- Answer general questions related to COVID-19.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used and Responsibility
- Basic interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to apply knowledge of office procedures and carry out tasks accordingly.
- Ability to utilize the EMR system effectively.
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
- Must be flexible, organized, and function well under pressure.
- MS Office Suite proficiency.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Experience/ Education
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 – 2 years of experience in customer service.
- Previous experience in a medical practice desired.
- Experience with Microsoft Programs preferred.
