Medical Receptionist

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, direct inquiries, and take accurate messages.
  • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
  • Register new patients and update existing patient records.
  • Verify insurance information and obtain necessary documentation.
  • Collect copayments, process payments, and assist with basic billing inquiries.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and privacy regulations.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, faxes, and mail.
  • Keep the reception area clean, organized, and welcoming.
  • Perform administrative duties such as filing, scanning, data entry, and record management.
  • Cookordinate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to support quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous receptionist, customer service, or healthcare office experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes is a plus.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office applications is desired.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are required.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times is crucial.
