Medical Receptionist
Position Overview
This role is located on-site in our Raritan location, Monday-Friday, from 9 am-5 pm. This role is responsible for supporting daily administrative and clinical coordination functions to ensure efficient, responsive, and compliant operations across behavioral health services. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inbound and outbound phone calls, including live calls and voicemail follow-up
- Serve as a liaison between providers, facilities, pharmacies, and insurance companies
- Maintain professional and timely email correspondence
- Ensure clear and accurate communication across internal and external stakeholders
- Process prior authorizations in a timely and accurate manner
- Cook up telepsychiatry appointments and support PASRR documentation and workflows
- Aid providers with administrative requests and day-to-day support needs
- Prepare, complete, and distribute forms, letters, and documentation
- Receive and process patient payments in accordance with company procedures
- Aid with medication refill requests and coordinate with providers/pharmacies
- Support patients, families, and facilities with general inquiries and service coordination
- Manage fax correspondence, including sending, receiving, and tracking documents
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred)
- 1–3 years of medical reception, healthcare administration, or similar experience
- Experience with insurance verification, prior authorizations, or medical billing is preferred
- Familiarity with behavioral health or long-term care settings is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a professional, patient-focused approach
- Excellent organization and multitasking abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or electronic health records (EHR) systems
