Medical Radiographer-Special Interventional Radiology
Position Summary
Perform Radiological procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Perform a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures, as required.
Responsibilities
- Administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes.
- Achieve diagnostic radiographs by transferring and positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, selecting proper technical factors, operating equipment, and protecting patients in accordance with safety standards.
- Document and analyze data needed for diagnosis, and verify all information related to the patient and exam to reduce radiation exposure.
- Assist physicians in the administration of opaque media and perform first aid or BLS as needed.
- Teach established procedures and operation of equipment to radiology students or appropriate hospital personnel.
- Conduct quality control tests and participate in research.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Diagnostic Radiology Program
- New York State DOH License in Diagnostic Radiology
- IV Contrast Injection Certification
- ARRT Certified
- BLS Certification
Qualifications
- One Year Experience in Radiology and/or Interventional – Special Procedures
- Hospital Experience
