Department
- Equipment: 2 GE CT scanners, 2 Varian Truebeams, 1 Varian Edge, AlignRT, and an Elekta Flexitron afterloader.
- Software: Aria, Eclipse, MIM, Oncentra, Radformation.
- Team: 5 Radiation Oncologist, 4 Medical Physicists, 4 Dosimetrist, 10 Radiation Therapist.
Job Description
- Competent to independently provide clinical and professional services in therapeutic medical physics.
- Consults and collaborates with Radiation Oncologists and allied health personnel.
- Supports treatment planning and patient-specific radiation dosing.
- Ensures radiation safety for patients, staff, and the general public.
Key Duties
- Develop, test, and commission radiation therapy, brachytherapy, simulation, and treatment-planning equipment; ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance.
- Establish and maintain policies and procedures for clinical use of radiation and technical operations.
- Perform radiation measurements, acceptance testing, and equipment evaluations prior to clinical implementation.
- Review and evaluate patient dosimetry and collaborate with physicians and dosimetrist on treatment planning.
- Lead quality management and radiation safety programs, including shielding design and evaluation.
- Provide technical leadership for radiation oncology staff and support program development.
- Deliver consultation, training, and expertise in radiation dose, imaging applications, and informatics.
- Execute brachytherapy quality assurance procedures, oversee all radioactive source exchange activities, and participate in treatment planning and delivery for the brachytherapy program.
Qualifications
- Masters or Ph.D. from a CAMPEP accredited medical physics program OR a Ph.D. or equivalent in Physics, Medical Physics, or related field with completion of a CAMPEP approved residency training program in Radiation Oncology Physics.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Radiology.
- Listed as authorized medical physicists on radioactive materials license or eligible.
